chances of me getting into MIT?

1530/2400 SAT I <760 Math, 300 CR, 470 Writing>

GPA = 2.2

Rigorous Classes: 5 AP classes (but I failed 3 AP exams).

————->AP scores: 1,1,1,3,5. (5 was AP calc BC, 3 was AP Physics C)

Extra Curics: Playing lots of computer games and selling stuff on ebay….. -_-;

My dad is an MIT graduate but I obviously don’t think that will help me in my admissions. Some people do say legacy helps, but my above scores may just be crap…

What are my chances? Should I even waste $$ applying?

*Please, serious answers only…*

With a 2.2 GPA and your AP and SAT scores, you have virtually no chance. I’m sorry.

Additionally, MIT is a meritocracy–no one gets in based on legacy status.

Yea, no chance whatsoever. Unless your dad has a building on MIT’s campus named after him.

I’ll be perfectly blunt with you – your extra curriculars are horrible. I seriously hope you’ve done more than just that. LIke one of the above posters said, you won’t have much of a chance getting into any decent school. Start expanding your interests, maybe do some volunteer work, show that you know how to manage your time.

2.2 GPA? Absolutely zero. Sorry. Don’t waste your time. In fact, it will be hard to get into any school with that, much less a great school like MIT. Maybe try community college first?
