Can i use content from wikipedia for my website?

The reason why I ask is because wikipedia has some info that would be very relavent on my page which also has adsense on it..

what are the procedures that I have to do to use there content,ie do I put a quote saying its courtesy of wikipedia or what can i do,,>??

I have tried reading the FAQs and copyright jargon but it goes way over my head.

As long as you give Wikipedia credit for the content and as long as their copyright rules permit you to use quotes from their material, it should be OK. You should not, however, copy complete or almost-complete articles from their pages to yours. The way to get around the problem is to write a very brief summary of the content in your own words, and then put a link to the relevant Wikipedia page on your page.

If it’s an educational website on educational propery used in teaching purposes in the United States, technically you can use anything, copyrighted or otherwise as Libraries and Teachers have Fair Use rights. This is why you have photo copy machines in the Libraries and why students copy things out of books like it’s going out of style.

Now, if you took a text book to Kinkos they wouldn’t let you copy it. They aren’t exempt.

Wikipedia material clearning must come from the individual authors who will tell you if you can or can’t post it elsewhere.

It looks like u can. I’ve played around on the main page and found some links in the tips section. Just look around the website (wikipedia.org) community portal. If you cant find anything on there they have a ‘contact us’ selection on the web page. Good luck.
