Can I study ASL in college for foreign language requirements?

I’d love to learn sign language in college and have it count for credits! Does anyone know if very many colleges accept this?

I went to the University of Minnesota and they accepted it. I know more and more schools are accepting it. I would look around for a school that does, make sure it suits your other needs and go for it. I can’t tell you how much fun ASL is to learn and to speak! I made so many new friends because of it.

It depends what college, but I know that most will accept a 151 or 152 as your requirement. If you’re going to pursue a minor/major, then I would say call them and find out for sure. Personally i have a minor in ASL and it doubled as my language requirement.

while you’re focused on top faculties, you pick to take 4 years of the comparable distant places language; no longer 2. lots of people who’ve concern discovering spoken languages can do nicely discovering ASL, so i think of that could be a sturdy determination for you. i don’t understand for particular if the faculties you checklist settle for ASL. that’s this form of particular question that i think you may might desire to digital mail their admissions workplaces to make particular.
