Your audience doesn’t have to be passionate about it, because your purpose is to inform or persuade. You make a good speech when you grab the attention of an otherwise bored group.
Pick a topic that interests you, then make your points with enthusiasm.
Here is a nice trick for making a decision between 2 topics of equal interest to you. Get a quarter and select heads for Topic A, and tails for Topic B. Just before you flip the coin, ask yourself if you hope it will be heads or tails. If you hope it’s heads, for example, don’t bother to flip the coin, the decision has already been made in your mind, so go with Topic A.
