Applying to MIT?
I am an international student in the UK, in my penultimate year in high school. I want to apply to Princeton and MIT, and was wandering how I would fair when applying. I have 9 A* at GCSE and I am predicted 43 IB points. These include top grades in science and maths. Furthermore, I am a senior prefect at my large school and I take part in a number of different extra curricular activities. In light of all of this could someone please tell me, if they know, how I would fair.

Assuming they follow the same procedures when I applied to MIT some time back, you will probably do pretty good if you are strong in the areas you indicate. Extracurricular activities are less important at MIT than many other schools. They do an interview with a grad in your area once you get past the first selection. Admission is very competitive and the environment is very intense but exciting for the variety. After attending there and being unable to keep up due to poor study habits, I found other colleges frustrating in their compartmentalization of studies while MIT students assumed you had a broad range of interests.
I realize that we are casual here, but I note that you have misused “fair/fare”, “wandering/wondering” and urge you to triple check your application/essay/letter as a spell checker will not catch these.

You will probably do quite well with those stats. Just don’t lie on your apps, they are looking for that now. Just ask the former lying Dean of MIT: http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/americas/04/27/mit.dean/index.html
