Sure, but it might be a waste of time. Going thru med school and residency is going to take years. Why delay it any longer than you have to?

You’re not going to be able to save up much money anyways. You’ll only be able to get jobs that any college grad would be able to get. You’re going to have to live off of loans like everyone else. Saving up some will just disqualify you for any need based help you might otherwise qualify for (happened to a friend of mine).

I advise you before you tie yourself completely in a knot, to just calm down and start taking things one step at a time. To become a physician, you need a bachelors degree. Yes, it can be in anything but yes, you need the pre-med pre-reqs; keeping in mind those are the BARE minimum. Most people take far more. It is advisable to do a major in something that will get you are career if you do not make it to med school (to be a nurse you must go to nursing school, to be a pharmacist you attend a pharmD program). When you are in college, there are pre med advisers who will help you with the process. You do need extracurriculars such as volunteer work, research, etc. Again, you will get help on direction. The MCAT exam (they will tell you when to take it) needs to be at least a score of 32 ish. Volunteer work is not just the hospital–look at soup kitchens, building houses–humanitarian things. You do not become a nurse first-nursing and medicine are very different. Stop worrying about a medical specialty-that you pick in med school after you rotate through the departments. so don’t even waste time freaking on that. Again, slow down.
