The first comprehensive library was put together by the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal, and was built in Nineveh, in present-day Iraq. It dated from the 600s B.C.
There were 25,000 tablets of information found in the library, and the information was in several languages. It’s the earliest library that has established evidence of existence.
Find out more (there’s an earlier library not used as the “first” because …well, I’m not 100% sure! Look things up and happy writing! Don’t go crazy over homework… just do it in plenty of time…

I agree with the Library at Nineveh but it is also notable to check out the Royal Library of Alexandria-3BC. If my memory serves me right, it was the largest library in existence, the Pharaoh Ptolemy (I or II) ordered all text to be submitted and copied by scribes.
