every department has it’s own chief.
gotta go to the fire academy, easier if you have paramedic background. some departments wont even consider you if you don’t

In order for you to become a firefighter. Most states, county, town require you to take a civil service exam which usually comes out every 1-3 years depending where you are. To find out when the next testing in your area go to your local library and ask about the civil service test or go to your state website and you can find out better info. for your area. Alot of states now require firefighters to be EMT’s as well.
EMT’s are the people who work on the ambulance. Not the paramedics who can give out medications. Basic EMT’s can’t
Fire Chief is the head firefighter in charge. Like supervisors for the day. Every firehouse is different on who the chief is and exactly what he does.
I’ve been an EMT for 6 years and my brother is trying to get into the firefighting.
