Imagine you have a large fat straw, and a small amount of juice. Eventually without really trying , you willl run out of whatever you were drinking. You will do so “faster” than you would if you had a thin/small straw.

We have unsustainable development in much of the western world, we live for the most part in sub-urban areas where driving in required, and we run multiple errands in a day.

In about 20 years or so , OIL will become so expensive that we will not be able to continue to live the way we do. Cities will become revitalized (which is arguably good), suburbs will become the new slums. Eventually, we will be really unable to afford oil from overseas and then things will get less friendly.

Food production is largely based on the idea of cheap , available oil, that will not be available in the future, since oil will be so expensive that farmers can’t afford to use it, food production will plummet.
