What is a good comparison to how big an acre is. Two football fields, four foootball fields ? I don’t know

Alot of people I talk to say ‘Well, I have three acres of land. I don’t know how much land they’re talking about. Just curious.

Wow…a lot of bad answers and a few good ones. The football reference has been answered, but just to expand a little bit, 1 sq. mile is 640 acres. That means 1/4th of a sq. mile (draw a square 1/2 mi. by 1/2 mi.) is 160 acres. A square 1/4 mi. by 1/4 mi. is 40 acres. And finally, 1/8 mile by 1/8 mile is 10 acres. Maybe that’s a little bit easier to imagine than 7 or 8 football fields.

hectare, I know, its about 10,000 square meters. Is acre one square mile. then 3 square miles. Drive your car stop if the meter adds another 1 turn left, repeat the same thing until three turns. That’s how big it is. Visually.
