If they want to work and their grades don’t suffer then fine. My 17 y/o daughter works (her choice) about 20 hours a week and I monitor her grades.

I think a lot is dependant on how mature the student is and how well they can manage time. Education is more important than a part time job…

Up to the student. In high school I only worked summers because I was involved in so many school activities. In college I will be starting my first job in january but I do work in an office on fridays I can make it home, breaks, and summer. If a college student does get a job the hours are normally like 15-20 hrs a week. Good Luk!

I worked in high school but not in college. Working in high school I feel is fine if you find the right job that has the right hours (something after school for only a couple of hours and only a few days a week). But in college its just plain hard. I know people who do and I am impressed with them because it is not easy. I cant imagine being able to do all my work and go to a job too.

I think that you should only work on the weekends in high school and college. That way, you can focus on schoolwork during the week.

I am one of those people who always thinks about the future rather than the current situation. I believe that the longer you work the earlier you can retire. Plus money to call your own! No more borrowing from mom or dad right?!

absolutely college students should work! employers expect you to have great internships and work experience. in fact, to qualify for the best opporutnities upon graduation you MUST have some terrific experiences throughout your college career. my advice: start early! the sooner you can get an internship or job in your potential field, the better

Yea, of course. It can not only give you an overview of what’s will happen during your working days in the future, it can also give you money to lighten your parents burden for paying your school fees. Just and opinion.

Good day to you!

I worked while in high school, but not in college. I guess it depends on you and current situation.

no, it shifts your focus to money. college students get an education to have a better job which you will probably have for 35 years before retiring, so whats the rush
