how much money is spent annually to harvest and process corn in the US?

i read somewhere that people spend billions worldwide caring for grass, a plant we don’t eat, use for building supplies, make fabric with, make medicine from, or use in any way other than for ornamentation. this isn’t including grass that livestock graze on, more like lawns and sporting fields (baseball, football, soccer, etc).

i was just wondering if, in fact, we spend more money on grass than corn, something we use in far too many foods and products.

any facts or trivia on either are welcome, or just give your opinion on the subject.
