first, let’s learn to determine what note to start on for a concert pitch. The way I do it is to go up two half steps from the concert called for and start on that note. There are other methods but this works for me really quickly.

example: the director calls for C concert – we go up two half steps, C-C# then C#-D and we start on D. D major scale has 2 sharps in it F# and C# ☺

* Ab concert – you start on Bb (Ab-A, A-Bb) Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G, A, Bb

* F# concert – you start on G# (F#-G, G-G#) [a trick here, G# and Ab are the same just spelled differently, Ab is easier to remember] Ab, Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G, Ab

* D concert — you start on E (D-D#, D#-E) E F# G# A B C# D# E

for this to work for you for every scale, you need to learn all of your key signatures. How many flats or sharps are in each key. Then you can build any scale in any key with ease.

in case you regarded on line, you weren’t finding very complicated. The bass clarinet’s written be conscious is an entire-step (plus an octave) bigger than stay overall performance pitch. stay overall performance C = written D, stay overall performance Eb = written F, etc.
