People develop a priori commitment as to what facts they will let take root in their consciousness, at a very early age. This acts like a filter, only letting in information that they can identify with.
It takes very severe life changing circumstances that will cause most people to take in new information, that is life changing.
Some people are much more open then others. They can learn faster. Others are more close minded. Their minds are made up, and they don’t want to be confused with the facts~
