A malignant lymphoma that tends to metastasize in lymphatic tissue. The most common first symptom is a swelling of the lymph nodes, and the diagnosis and treatment are similar to those of Hodgkin’s disease. It can occur at any stage of life and make its appearance in any part of the body where there is lymphatic tissue, the tonsils, the tongue, or the nasopharynx area.

Lymphosarcoma (lymphoma) is a malignant cancer that involves the lymphoid system. In a healthy animal, the lymphoid system is an important part of the body’s immune system defense against infectious agents such as viruses and bacteria. Lymphoid tissue normally is found in many different parts of the body including lymph nodes, liver, spleen, gastrointestinal tract and skin. Lymphosarcoma is classified according to the location in the body in which the cancer begins.

These include

# The multicentric form occurs in the lymph nodes.

# The gastrointestinal form occurs in the stomach, intestines, liver and lymph nodes in the abdomen.

# The mediastinal form occurs in the mediastinum, in front of the heart in an organ called the thymus. Hence this form of lymphosarcoma sometimes is called thymic lymphoma.

# The cutaneous form occurs in the skin.

# Acute lymphoblastic leukemia occurs when the disease starts in the bone marrow.

# Miscellaneous forms of lymphosarcoma are less common and include those that begin in the nervous system, nasal cavity or kidneys.

Lymphoma is a type of cancer that originates in lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell in the vertebrate immune system). There are many types of lymphoma. Lymphomas are part of the broad group of diseases called hematological neoplasms.

In the 19th and 20th centuries the affliction was called Hodgkin’s Disease, as it was discovered by Thomas Hodgkin in 1832. Colloquially, lymphoma is broadly categorized as Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (all other types of lymphoma). Scientific classification of the types of lymphoma is more detailed.

Although older classifications referred to histiocytic lymphomas, these are recognized in newer classifications as of B, T or NK cell lineage. Histiocytic malignancies are rare and are classified as sarcomas

It totally depends on what stage of cancer he is ate and if it’s spread. If you are unwilling to go the Chemo route then you are talking only several months at the most. (again depends on the stage he’s at). Talk to your vet once the biopsy results come back and he’ll/she’ll be able to tell you what to expect. I’m sorry to hear about your situation and good luck.
