What is a good education college in Tx. I want to be an Elementary Ed. Teacher?? HELP?
Im a High School senior, and im not sure of what college to attend….

University of North Texas in Denton (AKA North Texas State), less than an hour north of Dallas/Ft. Worth. It’s a great school if you are pursuing an education degree, and more affordable than others. 🙂

great mid-sized, and comfortable community
and very near the urban — world-class city of Dallas !!

Most schools in Texas have El Ed Programs. Stehpen F. Austin has a elementary school on campus to provide the in depth training for their students.
Consult your principal or the principals of neighboring elementary schools for their opinion. Remember that it is only their opinion and how you sell yourself will matter more than your degree giver.

Sam Houston State has been a “teaching school” pretty much from the very beginning. I graduated from SHSU in May 2006. Make sure you go throught the whole Methods and Student Teaching process, it really helps you to be prepared!

Well since I went to Texas Tech so I am biased towards it. But, I would suggest going to school where you want to teach, so you can do your student teaching there and already have an “in” with a school. I know in San Antonio, It can be hard to get into a good district here, unless you’ve done student teaching in that district then it’s easy.

I am partial to U.T. in Austin
but I hear Baylor is also good if you can get past the mandatory daily mass thing (catholic college)
