Second, and this is partially due to the above-mentioned “run-on sentence,” I’m not real sure if you are a student of drama or an education student who is getting ready to teach drama or what. I will tell you that your professor wants to hear something along the lines of drama being the sort of subject that can be adapted to different learning styles. Some students learn best by being lectured to, taking notes, and giving the answers back on a test. Others learn best by moving around, playing improv games, being blocked into a scene, etc and are tested by a performance. Try that for starters.
1. Betty Jane Wagner – “Dorothy Heathcote – Drama as a Learning Medium”
2. Dorothy Heathcote – “Drama & Education: subject or system”
3. Dorothy Heathcote – “Children & Drama”
4. Dorothy Heathcote – “Drama in the Education of Teachers”
5. Dorothy Heathcote – “How does Drama Serve Thinking”
I googled “how to teach drama” and there were many wonderful websites containing ideas, lesson plans, etc. Anyway, this should get you started. Good luck.
