Social Science teachers in Arizona….?
… I am a Hisotry teacher and thinking about moving to the West Phoenix area. I have spoken to some friends out there who have told me that there are no curriculum standards (as there are here in CA) rather you are given autonomy as to what you specifically teach; as long as you remain in the frameworks of the time period and overall class focus. If any of you have any information on the topic it would be appreciated.

According to Arizona Department of Education’s web page there are state standards. I did not pursue West Phoenix nor private schools, but it does not sound quite right to me. Maybe it is a matter of interpretation, but I would do some more investigating myself.
