x/4 – y/3 = 1

(3x – 4y)/12 = 1

3x – 4y – 12 = 0 (This is the standard form)

It is a linear equation. The standard form is y = ax + b.

multiply through by 3 to get

(3/4)x – y = 3

y = (3/4)x – 3

a = 3/4, b = -3
