It all depends on how old the kids are.Use more known themes with the younger kids like noah jonah and samson.If they are older focus more on teaching about good character discipline and love.

Our local teacher store sells religious materials also. They have everything from bulletin board items to reproducible books. I teach at a public elementary school and find that adapting a current popular theme is fun. For example the movie “Underdog” could be used relating to David and Goliath. Just be creative!

We bought a pre-packaged idea this year.
My mom’s church did the creation week. Last year they did heroes from the Bible. The year before it was Noah. Check out orientaltrading.com for good, cheap art/craft idea.
