You’ll need to decide on the level you want to teach (elementary—K-6) or secondary (7-12).
Each state in the US has its own requirements. So if it will be easier to get educated and certified in the same state where you want to teach. You can move, many of us do, but then you have to get certified in the new state.
Once you find out the requirements for certification, check at your college to see if they have a teacher training program. Most programs are 5-years to complete (includes some practice teaching) and there may be other tests to take after graduation before you are fully credentialed to teach in the classroom for pay.
To gain some insight and experience in teaching, consider volunteering to tutor students either on campus or in the community (e.g. schools, community centers, etc.)
