Penilaian Menengah Rendah

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) is a Malaysian public examination taken by Form 3 students (generally in their 15th or 16th year of age) of both public and private schools. It was formerly known as Sijil Rendah Pelajaran or SRP before 1991, since then, it has been known as Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR). The subjects in this exam include:

Mandatory/Core Subjects are:

Bahasa Malaysia or the Malay Language

English

Mathematics

Science

Geography

History

Living Skills or Kemahiran Hidup

Islamic Studies (mandatory for Muslim students, optional for others)

Optional subjects are:

Arabic Language

Chinese Language

Tamil Language

Punjabi Language

Iban Language

Kadazandusun Language (From 2009)

Students are required to take at least 7 core subjects, that is all non-optional subjects, up to a maximum of 9. The students can obtain a grade from A (best) up to E, or T for non-attendance (Tidak hadir).

Based on the results and individual interest, students will be allocated (this is also known as Streaming) in either the Science, Arts, IT, or vocational stream for the following 2 years in the higher secondary education level. The government have stated that they aim for a ratio of 60 Science to 40 Arts students.

The PMR results for the year 2006 was released by the Education Department to all candidates in their respective schools on the 28th of December. A comprehensive analysis on the results was released the following day, 29th.

Good Luck….
