Do you think this is over the top?

One of my teachers is crazy.

The other day Some people didn’t do their h.w. and he gave us this speech.

He said “For those of you who think you can slack off because of the No Child Left Behind Act, your wrong!!!!”

Then he said he didn’t like us and that he wasn’t our friend and he didn’t need friends because he has his own.

Everyone was trying not to laugh.

I started to smile and he was like “Stop laughing Holton!”

I didn’t even laugh! omg hes awful….

and oh so boring.

Then he said “I don’t care if you have Football, or basketball practice or whatever after school you stay up and do your homework. Do what you have to do to get it done. Do you think my day ends at 4:30.

No! I have to get up early and leave late.”

Stuff like that.

Whats his problem?

Good for him! I’d give him a “gold star”! Teachers are not there to be a friend, that isn’t an appropriate role. He’s teaching you and your peers a valuable life lesson, one that will surely serve you well both in school and work if you can manage to keep that attitude in check. After school activities are a choice; you’re in school to learn, not just play sports or whatever. I love his belief that everyone is expected to do things on time! Why should some get a free pass to duck out on responsibilities? That’s not going to fly in my future classroom!

Teachers are people, too. Basically he sounds as if he was having a monumentally bad day. He feels that you are neglecting his class and trying to reason with all of you to turn your homework in on time. Teachers feel frustrated when you do not do the assigned work, because they know and see what kind of potential you have. They do not want you to fail because they want more than anything to have their students succeed. If this type of ranting continues throughout the year, I would talk to my parents and have them communicate with the principal about the classroom situation.

As a teacher myself, I would say that indeed NO. His responses were not very fair to you. However, as a teacher myself, I also question how the class was acting prior to his responses. I say, give him a chance. SHOW him that you really care about learning, about homework, about what he has to say, and perhaps you may find that he really IS an OK guy. You will NEVER be able to change someone. You can only change HOW YOU REACT. Best of luck, and DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

You need to give him a chance. This is just the beginning of the school year. Some teachers like to act tough a the beginning because they feel that it is easier o loosen the reigns than to tighten them

All teachers are pretty much the same. They think they have no lives because they have to (dare I say it)—grade papers while watching TV! Oh! The world is coming to an end!!!

Basically, teachers seem to think that grading papers is hard. Even though it requires no brain cells, no effort, just an hour or two out of your day. And they seem to think it’s fun to pile us up with homework because “Their class is the only one that matters”. And we have to spend from 3:30 P.M. to sometimes 11:00 or 12:00 P.M. AFTER getting home from school (where we spent another 7 or 8 hours doing work….imagine that.) Then we go to bed, and then wake up and do it all over again. Five days a week, 10 full months out of the year.

That’s pretty much all teachers have to do after school. But school itself, isn’t bad. They teach, they yell, they sit around, they grade somemore (they usually have the class help).

But even if the teacher has the class help grade all the papers, the teacher still seems to think they have no life. When clearly, they do.

Some of them aren’t even good teachers, and they don’t like kids. So why become a teacher? The pay isn’t even close to dirt. And you have to be in a smelly, hot class room with a bunch of roudy kids for a few hours each day. That’s about as bad as it gets.
