Any helpful tips for new teachers?

And most of all, always lock up your purse/wallet/valuables.
And take time to walk or breathe fresh air before you dive back into the grading and planning at home at night.
Gather free materials when you can, Join mailing lists for teachers and teaching societies as soon as possible (great tips and problem solving on those lists). And check out your university’s library for teacher activity books and the like. The more units, extra materials you make, the more time you’ll have in your first year.
Some teachers have the students switch papers and grade their work in glass.
Some teachers have students assess each other in class.
Some teachers implement more scantron type assessment of students so they don’t have to read or grade as much.
Some teachers are implementing online/computer assessments if they have those resources.
What you decide to evaluate and how you evaluate and assess the students can be very different depending on how much time you want to put in it.
Good Luck!
