Words (or phrases) with multiple meanings/connotations?
For example, the word “black” has a generally negative connotation and is not only a color, but is also used to describe an ethnicity, as well as “black magic”, “blackmail”, “black sheep”, etc.
Another example is the word “gay”, which can imply sexual preference or a happy/bright mood, but has developed a negative connotation, i.e. when people state, “That’s gay” at something they don’t like.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thank you!
