What is wrog (gramatically) with this sentence?

“Sugar is the cheif crop grown in the Carribean Islands, and every year, St. Thomas produces a lot of sugar which can be purchased here in Williamsburg at our local Farm Fresh store.”

We have this project in my English class that required us combining 50 sentences into 15, all of which must be free of any and all possible grammatical errors before receiving any credit. Thanks for any help…(look for punctuation, spelling, grammer problems etc. please!)

Sugar is the chief crop grown in the Caribbean Islands, and every year St. Thomas produces a lot of sugar, which can be purchased here in Williamsburg at our local Farm Fresh store.

I changed cheif to chief

I changed Carribean to Caribbean

I took out the comma between ‘year’ and ‘St.Thomas’

I put a comma between ‘sugar’ and ‘which’

hope i helped♥

ok. this sentence should do the job.

Sugar, the chief crop of the Carribean Islands, is produced annualy by St. Thomas; sugar can be purchased at the Local Farm Fresh Store in Williamsburg.

This is the correct way to write the sentence. I’ve been studying a lot of grammar for the SAT and im positive that this is gramatically correct.

“Sugar is the cheif crop grown in the Carribean Islands, and every year, St. Thomas produces a lot of sugar which can be purchased here in Williamsburg at our local Farm Fresh store.”

Change it:

“Sugar is the chief crop, grown in the Caribbean Islands and every year, St. Thomas produces a lot of sugar, which can be purchased here in Williamsburg, at our local Farm Fresh Store.”

spelt chief wrong, etc. Good luck!

Happy Hank – you missed the fact that she had to combine sentences.

“Sugar is the chief crop grown in the Caribbean Islands, and every year St. Thomas produces a lot of sugar, which can be purchased here in Williamsburg at our local Farm Fresh store.”

Fixed a couple of spelling errors as well as taking away one comma and adding a comma.

You have a run on there, and its just far too wordy. You just need a subject and an object.

Sugar, the chief crop grown in the Caribbean Islands, particularly the island of St. Thomas, can be purchased here in Williamsburg at our local farm fresh store.

Change it:

“Sugar is the chief crop, grown in the Caribbean Islands and every year, St. Thomas produces a lot of sugar, which can be purchased here in Williamsburg, at our local Farm Fresh Store.”

Eh. I’m pretty sure that’s right. If not, I tried. xD
