An I-20 is not a student visa – they are two completely different things.
An I-20 is a form issued to an international student by a learning institution such as a college or a university once they have been accepted into the school. On the I-20 it states your name, school, course of study, duration of your course etc.
Once you have received an I-20 you may then apply for a student visa through the countries embassy where you live.
You cannot apply for a student visa without an I-20.
