Talking isn’t bad as long as it pertains to the subject and while your teacher is not lecturing. It is rude and disrespectful to talk while the teacher is talking. Second, talking about what he is discussing is good. It is good to relate the information he is teaching to today and let the kids talk. This way, the kids can still talk but they are learning at the same time from each other. It also helps them learn to speak in front of others, give their opinion (hopefully back it up with fact), and it is a good way for oral defense. Gossiping/talking in class though takes away because you will nto get the information b/c most high school kids will not go home and read the info they talked about in class. Therefore it is hard to get the info, pass the test, and use it later in life where as paying attention, asking questions, and class discussiong with everyone participating and listening will better the students knowledge for quizzes, test, and beyond HS.
