Which sections of the ACT do colleges primarily look at?

ACT composite: 26

science: 23

math: 24

english: 26

reading: 29

When colleges say that they look at math and english sections, does that it include reading? I’d be surprised if reading comprehension wasn’t one of their main criteria in a college entrace exam. (it would also do me some good lol)

they look at your entire ACT score, not just a few sections of it.

Colleges will generally plug all of your numbers into a very complex (ie, tax code complex) formula to help in the admissions process. Most of the time with the ACT the composite score is what is used.

For example, a composite score of 26 on the ACT is the bottom of the mid-50% range for Penn State’s University Park Campus.
