When should I take my SAT?

Whats a PSAT? the ACT test? Do reading those SAT books help? SAT is for getting into college right? I don’t think anybody at my school has taken the SAT, my small charter school has only been open for 3 years and none of the graduates have taken the SAT so I don’t really know anything about the SAT. My school doesn’t have a counseler person for me to ask these questions. I”m going to be a junior somebody told me i should take it my senior year.

Take the SAT or the ACT towards the end of your junior year (like, January-June). Even take both if you like. Then, if you are unsatisfied with your scores, take either or both of the tests during your early senior year (like September-

November).

The SAT and the ACT are both similar in that they are college admissions tests–people on college admissions committees use the scores as part of deciding whether a student is prepared to attend their college. The SAT is more strategy-based, and the ACT is more knowledged-based. SAT has critical reading, math, and writing sections, while the ACT has reading, math, English (which is a lot like the SAT writing section), and Science Reasoning sections. There is an optional writing prompt on the ACT (on the SAT, the writing section is mandatory), but you should do it. You don’t ahve to take both to get into college–you can do either one or the other. But taking both might be a good diea to get your best possible score (your score on one might be higher than your score on another).

PSAT (pre-SAT) and PLAN (pre-ACT) tests are tests taken in in October of your sophomore and/or junior year. these give you a good idea of what your SAT or ACT score will be if you take the real test without further preparation. And they help you to prepare for the real tests. Do sign up for at least one of these if possible.

And yes, the books really do work (so long as you aren’t already so advanced that you can think through most types of questions, but then, you wouldn’t need to study much anyways).

Oh, and ignore anyone who says you should buy Tutorfox products–they are a farce. Especially ignore the person below me.

To sign up for the SAT, make an account at http://www.collegeboard.com. It’s the SAT Reasoning test, not the subject tests. To sign up for the ACT, make an account at http://www.act.org. You probably only have to go to the front page and click on soemthing that says, “Register for the SAT/ACT.”

okay the PSAT and the PLAN tests are both pre-tests just for practice PSAT(pre-SAT test) PLAN (pre-ACT test) those should be taken your sophomore year or before your SAT’s or ACT’s just to see how they are….you should be taking your SAT test and your ACT test your junior and senior year…taking them your junior year will allow you to keep taking them through your senior year when you apply for college to hopefully keep increasing your score but you can submit your highest score too so it’ll just be good for you….colleges look at your SAT or ACT test scores depending on what the college wants to look at….sign up at http://www.collegeboard.com/

for more information about all that stuff…

good luck!

differences between the ACT and SAT go to this site…there’s a whole chart comparing the two!!

You should take the PSAT as soon as possible and the SAT at least once before the end of your junior year. I think most students take it twice. Once( or even twice) in their junior year and then again senior year.

you should take the PSAT in your soph year for practice, then take any SAT II subject tests that you can ace that year, then junior year, take SAT I in oct or dec, then again in jan/july then again in senior year oct. and SAT II subject tests throughout also, after AP classes.

taking it your senior year can be really stressful because you have to worry about apps too so…… idk.

yes sat books help .
