ACT measures what you’ve learned. SATs measures a aptudide. thats the difference. Yet you can study for both

The test and scoring system are a little different, but it’s basically the same – just created and operated by two different companies.

Do you have to take both? Maybe, maybe not. Check with the colleges that you want to apply to. Some accept one, some accept the other, and some accept both…. and it is always possible that some require both.

Also, some of the better colleges require acheivement tests (when I was in school they were referred to as the Klep exams… I’m not sure why), so you will want to check and plan on taking those as well.

Well, you might do better on one than the other. So it may be worth taking both tests to see which one you would do better on. Also, the ACT has a science section–the SAT doesn’t have one.
