1. Buy a couple practice/prep books and read thoroughly
2. Take first practice test, find out what the *right* answers are and why
3. Memorize vocab: do flashcards or write out words & definitions repeatedly
4. Make sure you understand all different aspects of math in the test book, work through example problems
5. Re-take practice test
6. Continue to memorize vocab, work through math problems, write out a few “good” essays (instructions per prep book)
7. Look for practice tests on-line and take those. Correct wrong answers & memorize the right ones (know why they’re right).
8. Continue with step 6.
9. Combine with taking remaining practice tests in prep book. Correct wrong answers & know why the right answers are right.
This was my process preparing for the GRE, 6 years after taking any math/literature classes. The material was not fresh at first, but I did quite well on the test. Start studying 1 year-2 months ahead of time.
