what’s the average on IQ?

Valid I.Q. tests (WISC/WAIS/WPPSI, Stanford-Binet, Woodcock-Johnson, UNIT) are normed by age, so your raw scores are only compared to people of your same age. Sex, although normed for, is not indicated in scaled or composite scores.
You’re likely best at the timed IQ tests in your late teens and early twenties. As you get older you accumulate more knowledge so you should become wiser.
Any deviation from the median is above average, obviously, but it only starts to get significant when you’re talking like 150 and up. 170 and up is genius-level.
However, IQ only measures a person’s mechanical intelligence, their ability to memorize, their ability to work with numbers. It won’t tell us if a person is good at a musical instrument, knows how to paint, knows how to drive a race car like no other, or is a good athlete. Those are different fields altogether, and so far no scientist has come up with a way to measure those things, because those are right-brain items, and science is left-brain, as is the traditional IQ test.
If the person who scored the 131 isn’t you, my guess is that the score is telling us that the person is insecure and/or full of his- or herself. I can think of few good reasons for revealing one’s IQ. (I mean, reasons besides curiosity in an anonymous forum like this…)
If the person is you, it means you are smart.
131 means that the person is intelligent and pretty much above average
A high IQ statistically leads to a good income, and a more prudent life.
Be thankful for it 😉
