I am a very intelligent 13 yr. older, but I can’t find any organizations that will take in teens. My IQ is 169

I tried SETI, but you actually have to PAY to get in, I don’t have a credit card or a cell phone. I want everyone to acknowledge me, but I can’t join any free teen organization. I am mostly a science person. I’m not good with math. I know almost EVERYTHING that has to do with the human body. Social studies is the second thing that I can do, but mostly all of it is science. I have an IQ of 169 or maybe even more than that. Can anyone tell me of any organization?

What IQ test did you take to get that score? Was it administered by a psychologist?

SETI probably didn’t want you because you’re not an alien. The SETI Institute is devoted to the search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, not smart kids.

Mensa allows children and teens as members, provided they have a high enough score on any of the IQ tests that Mensa accepts. See the link below for more information.

But if you’re looking for a free high-IQ society, you’re probably out of luck. Most organizations, of any kind, have to charge a membership fee. How else could they afford to BE organizations, with meetings and newsletters and websites and everything that goes with it? If your parents won’t pay for your membership, you’ll have to wait until you can pay for it yourself.

You also should not expect for “everyone to acknowledge” you just for joining a high-IQ society. The people in the society will all have high IQs too, and no one else is going to care. You’ll have to impress people with your own abilities, not your club memberships.

There are free student science groups you can get involved with, through your school, or if not then certainly through the local high school. By the way, check to see if your area has a chapter of Young Mensa.

By the way, how did you obtain your score? If your testing didn’t use either the Stanford-Binet or the Wechsler scale, then its a bunch of BS. Then again, most IQ tests are designed to be accurate only within a certain range, say 65-135 IQ. Exceptionally intelligent people cannot really be accurately assessed because there aren’t enough items on the tests that challenge them.

here is an index of organizations for gifted children, organized by state:

good luck!!

Maybe more? So you dont really know what your IQ score is. Is this a real IQ test, or did you just take some internet test? And straight, trivial knowledge is not an indicator of intelligence, only what you choose to learn. Reasoning ability is more related to intelligence, and math happens to be the subject most closely related to reasoning ability, so if you’re not good at math, I question your intelligence.

well, you cant be very intelligent if youre not good with math. okay. first of all, IQ isnt everything. second of all, you have to LEARN that many things in this world arent free. third of all, get a life, omg. you probably know zilch about the human body. ugh

yes, i agree with engineer girl, i doubt you have an IQ of 169.. you took a dumb online quiz.

First question: What is the basis for the IQ, i.e. Wechsler?, Stanford-Binet?, or is its basis Mean = 100 with SD = 16?

Second Question: I thought SETI was the organization that has as its purpose the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence?

Finally, have you thought about MENSA?

lol. I highly doubt you have an IQ of 169. If you did, you probably wouldn’t be asking stupid questions. Did you take an online quiz? Those usually aren’t very accurate.

I agree with engineergirl.

Maybe the test is not accurate. I’ve once took an IQ test, and I got 192! Do you believe it?

Contact the nearest Mensa chapter. There’s a fee to join, but you can come to the first few meetings without being a member and, after that, if you can’t afford it, the other members will let you come as their “guest.”

Any chance you’re near Atlanta? We’d be glad to have you come to our meetings.
