Hello there,

Although some of the individuals above me(K Johnson) have a personal vendetta against Tutorfox.com and presume I am affiliated with the site, this is not the case. I have nothing to do with tutorfox.com. I used the book last year and was able to improve my score significantly. The book isn’t published as it was written by two college students who got a 2400 and a 2350. Since the book can potentially improve your score, I recommend actually paying for it instead of trying to get it for free.

Regards,

Ben Rosenstein

Don’t do it!!!

No, you can’t buy it at Barnes and Noble, because it was written by a few students who are selling it from their website: http://www.tutorfox.com/satguide.html . But I REALLY suggest you find something with more proven results and CREDIBILITY!!! One of the major names—Kaplan, Princeton Review, even Peterson’s. Different things work for different people, but those books have reputations and, like I said, credibility! Tutorfox does not.

To give you an idea: do a Google search for “tutorfox”. There are a scant thousand results, and other than the first one (which leads to their website) ALL OF THEM are from Yahoo!Answers or similar sites where one or two people (presumably the people who wrote the thing) have been flogging it. The first account we saw on here was just copying and pasting the same thing into EVERY question about the SAT… I think his account must’ve been deleted, because you can’t find that one anymore—using Yahoo!Answers for advertising purposes is against the “community guidelines”. But he’s still here somewhere, and still copying and pasting the same answer from a few different accounts, as far as I can tell. It goes something like this: “When I first took the SAT, my score was low in the mid 1700s but then I got the SAT guide from TutorFox: http://www.tutorfox.com/satguide.html and my score went up to 2190 (800 math, 760 writing, 630 reading). I highly recommend this guide for anyone wishing to get a higher SAT score” (that was from the newest, female version of him). It’s ALWAYS “low in the mid 1700s” but there’s some variation on what score the person got, and now (since someone posted a question on here saying it looked an awful lot like a scam—they don’t let you see the book before you buy it) sometimes he actually writes question-specific answers from one of his accounts. ::Edit:: To wit: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ahr0yZw78eqcUlWpTxljTnbBxQt.?qid=20070806100604AA6rp8U , http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmlipfUDNSyIMhZEEP9eI.zty6IX?qid=20070803061931AA6upBT&show=7#profile-info-09e18a252a459f05ec38767dea13133aaa . ::

Maybe it’s a good review book, maybe it has some good tips. I’m tempted to pay for it myself, just so I can denounce it from experience rather than hearsay, though the evidence does already seems clear to me. But for someone still studying for the SAT I really, really recommend going with something official, with proven results and less… shady seeming!

Good luck on the SAT!
