All studies indicate, and I think it makes sense, that the thing which matters is whether you are committed to doing the work and more importantly that you do the hard work of practicing the problems.
With that said, get The Official SAT Study Guide or the online course from College Board, and put in the hours and your score will go up.
Also, you can find the October 2005 SAT online at College Board’s site, but it is not labelled as the October 2005 SAT. CEEAE’s site has a link to the free SAT (which is the October 2005 SAT).

Buy SAT prep books and PRACTICE A LOT. For the math section, memorize the basic concepts and solve a lot of problems. For the essay portion, write a lot of practice assays and read good books. For reading section, practice the questions and memorize vocab. For the writing section, just practice. Practice for at least 1 hour for each section, every day, including weekends if possible. This method really helps

Get the books and practice. The more sample tests you take, the better you can take the real thing.
