15.) Men need to intake between 2200 and 2800 calories daily. Women need 600 fewer calories than this. Write and solve an inequality to discover how many calories women should be taking in per day.

I picked answer A which is 2200 < x – 600 < 2800 A.) 2200 < x – 600 < 2800 B.) 2200 > x < 2800 C.) 600 < x < 1200 D.) 1600 < x < 2800 E.) 1600 < x < 2200 F.) 2800 < x < 3200

E.

You’re starting out with 2800 as the upper value and 2200 as the lower value. both those values are reduced by 600, since you’re figuring for women, not men, making the values 2200 and 1600, and placing the variable between the two.

Well… if it wasn’t A) then I’d have gone for E)

The woman have 600 less than men altogether, so that would mean, take 600 from the mens maximum, and 600 from the mens minimum.

I initially thought A), however it’s not a solved inequality, because ‘x’ would need to be on it’s own.

Does that help?
