Should I retake the SAT I?

Ok, here is the story. I got a 30 on my ACT the first time, which was my goal, but my SAT score was a 1730. The scores don’t correlate because I was expecting somewhere between a 1900-2000 range. The SAT is a harder test and I know I can improve the score, but the question is, if I don’t reach my goal score 1900-2000 how will they look at it, compared to my ACT score. Should I retake it? Thanks.

well, to answer your question, colleges won’t see your ACT score and say “well… his SAT score isn’t that great so nevermind” they just take your overall highest test score. so if you’re comfortable with the ACT i suggest you stick with that – or even take the ACT again.. but not the SAT. you’ll obviously do better, thus increase your success with the ACT.

People always told me its better to take it as many times as you can, because colleges will combine the highest scores from each section of the test and only look at those. But if you’re going to retake it be serious about studying and wanting to improve, because if you don’t you’ll probably do about the same, thats what happened to me, I didn’t do much to prepare and I got basically the same scores and in the end it would be a waste of time and money.

I’d say no, because you can simply send the ACT score which is comparatively better than the SAT score. Sure, you could raise the SAT score, but unless you raise it so that it’s better than the 30 on the ACT, it won’t make any difference.

Did something happen on the day of the test? If so, you should retake it, if you take the practice tests and are consistently lower, you should not- doesn’t look great to retake a test 5 times and the one you want to send they look at. Doesn’t work that way.

If you think you have more potential, then retake it! 🙂 You get to chose which score that you like, so if you get a lower score, you can still keep your 1730.

Joey Joe, yo
retake it. why not?

you can only do better, your score won’t go down.

even if you do worse in one section, they just take your best results.
