SAT information?

Are the SATs really that hard? What SAT score do you need to get into NYU? Does anyone know where I can take a practice SAT test online?

The SAT is less a test of knowledge as it is a test of how you take the SAT. A good SAT review book (some people like the review classes) and dedication to gaining familiarity with both the format and style of the test and its content should be enough preparation.

As to NYU’s numbers, here’s what I found. NYU’s site:

“Are there minimum GPA or SAT requirements for admissions at NYU?

No. NYU does not use numerical cutoffs when we evaluate applications for admission. Having said that, it is important to realize that NYU receives applications from many students with extraordinary academic records and superior scores on standardized tests; more, in fact, than we can possibly admit each year. As a general rule, applicants with the strongest academic programs and the highest grades and test scores are those most likely to be offered admission.”

Given that, in 2003 the average SAT score for entering freshman was 1310 (old SAT) which translates roughly to 1965 on the new SAT. The Princeton Review has the average SAT score of NYU as 1958-2018.

You can take a practice SAT here: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/prep_one/test.html

This is the Official 2007-2008 Practice SAT test by the CollegeBoard.
