Is the AP English Lang./Comp. exam difficult?? (not the AP Lit. exam)..?

I took the practice multiple-choice part today in class along with my fellow classmates who all concurred w/ me that it was extremely DIFFICULT….I struggled a lot and didn’t finish on time. I never knew reading comprehension would be this hard. Is it that hard on the exam also?

Yeah, the exam is just like that. At my school, it has some of the lowest grades of any of the AP classes. And our average AP Chem score is a 5.

You actually have to understand the terminology AND understand how the questions are set up. The key to doing well on that exam is practicing enough to be able to recognize what kind of response a particular multiple choice question is looking for. Try the CliffNotes book for this exam. I typically recommend Princeton Review’s, but the Cliff one is the best for this exam.

That would depend on where your teacher got the practice test. In my AP English class (it was a Lit class, but we took both AP tests so we did practice Lang tests too) the practice tests we took in clas were waaaay harder than the real thing… so it’s hard to say, you’d have to take a practice test somewhere else and compare it– try the practice multiple choice questions on College Board: http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/ap/students/english/ap-english-0607.pdf (MC starts on page 18).

Put it this way, the Language and Composition sections on the SATs are a piece of cake compared to the AP Exam in Language and Composition.
