Is an IQ of 118 good?
For a 17 y.o.? Is it good enough to succeed at things like philosophy and English and stuff? (I did the test at iqtest.com . . . I couldn’t answer a few of the questions as my knowledge of shapes is pretty poor). How could I imporove the score? (apart form learning about shapes).

118 is a very good score. 115-130 is above average—-With this score, along with a strong motivational attitude to be succesful you should be able to pursue any field of study. Some of the shapes, diagrams reveal a capacity of certain individuals to grasp building, construction, and concepts . Continue to study in the area you are interested to help your overall knowledge areas.

First off the IQ score you got is worthless. Those websites can’t give you a score anywhere near accurate, the only tests that give you a valid IQ score are the one’s adminstered in person by licensed psychologists.
As for whether or not 118 is good, yeah, its good. Its above average. Its not genius level though, merely above average. Your IQ certainly helps when it comes to succeeding at academics, but isn’t the only factor. Motivation plays a huge role as well.

Its certainly above average, 100 should be average. I heard about 120 is enough for university degree and roughly 130 for a 1st class. Dont believe what you get from a website though!
I think what you have learned is you are probably above average IQ, dont look more into it than that. Ask teachers for advice on courses, not websites.
On improving IQ use your brain. Do memory games, read, play an instument, play chess whatever challenges you especially in the area you are weakest (probably spacial awareness?)

118 is above average so good for you; however you have to be careful about IQ tests and results, especially those done over the WWW. I have found that the drive of the individual is the most important factor in their success. Either way good for you and congrats!!

118 is a above average IQ. But if you took the test online, it probably isnt very reliable. IT should put you in the vicinity of your real IQ, but to find out your actual IQ you should a person who gives IQ tests. You can find that person online.

That IQ is about normal. I would predict A’s and B’s, and once in a while a low grade.
