IQ test confusion (lol)?

I have been to one of the best educational psycologists in the world for an IQ test a few times because I am distracted.

Every time I do this, my parents and I recieve a detailed breakdown of the results. In this breakdown, the final score is out of 160.

Recently I have seen some people who claim their IQs are above this, ie. 168, 178, etc.

In the context of my IQ test this does not make sence as there are only a possible 160 points to score.

Are there different scales in that case, and how do I convert from one to the other?

Here’s a conversion table. If you know what test you took, you can input the score, and it will convert it for you.

There are different IQ tests. For example Mensa, the International Genius Society, requires that you take 3 different IQ tests and score at the 98th percentile in 2 of the 3 for membership.

check out the mensa site for info on IQ testing. I recall that Marilyn Vos something or other had the highest IQ ever at once point, and hers was over 200, so I know the official scale runs higher than 160.

yes, there are different scales.

normally if you are above a 140 you are very smart.
