In the SAT II Subject tests, what is the difference between Math I and Math II?

I’m pretty sure it’s not difficulty. It might be the subject, but I dont know which is Geometry and which is Algebra, or whatever. Any help?

You’re right; it’s the subject, or how high you’ve gotten in your math courses. Math II goes up all the way through precalculus, so if you haven’t gotten there, you shouldn’t take it. Anything lower than that, Math I is your test.

There are some “difficulty” differences, though. The scaling for the two tests are different. For the Math II test, you can afford to miss several questions and still have an 800, whereas you need to get every single question right on the Math I to get an 800.

math II is extra not elementary and, in concept i think, smarter human beings take it so its extra not elementary to attain in a intense share. I scored a 720 yet in elementary terms interior the 70-eightieth percentile on the mathematics II.

Math II is considerably harder, because it covers topics that are higher in level. From CollegeBoard.com

Mathematics Level 1 is a broad survey test intended for students who have taken three years of college-preparatory mathematics, including two years of algebra and one year of geometry.

Anticipated Skills

You’re not expected to have studied every topic on the test, but you should anticipate the following:

Number and Operations

Algebra and Functions

Geometry and Measurement (plane euclidean, coordinate, three dimensional, and trigonometry)

Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability

Mathematics Level 2 is a broad survey test intended for students who have taken college-preparatory mathematics for more than three years, including two years of algebra, one year of geometry, and elementary functions (precalculus) and/or trigonometry.

Anticipated Skills

You’re not expected to have studied every topic on the test, but you should anticipate the following:

Number and Operations

Algebra and Functions

Geometry and Measurement (coordinate, three dimensional, and trigonometry)

Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability
