say no to the NWO

Im really worried about getting into a good college?

Im really worried about my current situation. My first two years of high school i was an a and b student, as well as the first semester of my junior year. However, the second semester of my junior year i got 4 cs (2 c+ 1 c and a c-) Then this first term of my senior year i got an a- c+ c+ and an f. My gpa currently stands at a 2.7. I’ll admit that i have slacked off and i am an idiot for doing it, but some of the classes that i got cs in were hard for me. I have a pretty solid resume and have been on many sports teams and i am an ambassador of my school. I have three good reccomendation letters and my sat scores were in the 1300s. If I shape it up the rest of my senior year will i get into at least a state school or a small private school. I’m really worried can someone help me. I don’t want to attend a technical or community college either.

Relax. So much is made about what a “good” college is. Is it one with a familiar name, a popular reputation, a good basketball team? There are thousands of colleges and universities in this country – many of which are outstanding. What’s important is finding the college that works best for YOU. You want your educational experience to be successful and rewarding. You don’t want to attend a college where you’re going to struggle academically (and the grades you’ve produced – an F? – means you’re going to have to expand your search). Go to http://www.collegeboard.com and click on “College Matchmaker” This is a great spot to find the perfect fit for you.

And get those applications in – you’re late in the game right now if you’re a Senior!!

I’ve got bad news for you – most colleges have the application deadlines for fall set in December or January, so you only have a month or two to apply, and next semester’s grades won’t be on the record.

You might just have to go to a community college and prove yourself there before you can get into a good college.Small private colleges are usually pretty selective, and even state schools generally look for better grades than you have. I’m assuming you took the old SAT (otherwise, 1300 is a TERRIBLE score – out of 2400!) – in which case, it’s probably been too long and you’ll need to take it again.

Starting out with two years at a community college isn’t the end of the world.

I think you will be fine. Focus on your academics. Sports and other activities are great. However, college is tough.

You want to be prepared. A lot of students don’t make it past the first year. You need to get disclipined enough to study and learn to ask questions on what you don’t understand. Take full responsibility for your learning. I don’t know what state you live in. I know in MA the schools are very competitive here. I went to the University of Alabama. It was cheaper and I got a great education. You may want to consider colleges outside your area.

You may need to take classes at a community college for a year to prove that you can handle college work. There’s no shame in doing that. The classes are smaller and are taught by instructors with PhDs. In large colleges and universities, you’re usually in big classes, at least for the 100 level courses. That adds onto the difficulty factor. It can be hard to hear the instructor over all of those students. At Harvard, I’ve heard there are a lot of foreign instructors that are difficult to understand.

Bottom line: Get to work on your studies. Make sure that you are not overcommitting yourself. The other stuff is great but it shouldn’t interfere with your academics. It’s a great way to learn more about yourself and how you work with others, among other things. But academics first.

Out of all the faculties that you just indexed, your pleasant wager is more commonly ASU, then Northridge. The UC procedure above all UC San Diego. The usual GPA for this final 12 months was once a three.ninety four their I consider, so thats practically out of the query. Same factor for Santa Barbara. You could have a shot at LB State however they’ve relatively began growing their requirements because of what number of men and women had been making use of.
