Ok first of all a GED is supposed to be an equivalent to a high school diploma, but in the real world, it isn’t. I’ve worked at the Career Services Center at my university and in Human Resources for a while and a high school diploma is what you need. I know high school isn’t the greatest thing in the world, but I would definately stay in it because many employers look down upon a GED and once you drop out of high school you can’t really ever get your diploma. Hope this helps!!

I don’t know at what age you can get one, but many states require you to be 17 or older. Some states also require that you attend classes prior to getting your GED. It is a general ed diploma. You still have to have somewhat of an education to pass the exams. You have social science, math, science and english/grammar questions. If you are thinking of dropping out, check out on line homeschooling classes instead so you can get your diploma. If you’re having problems with folks at school this gives you a chance to get your diploma without the hassle of other students and faculty. Talk to your counsler about homeschooling options. Good luck.

Don’t get a GED if you can pass High School…I got my GED, and now have to do an Associates Degree before I can go onto a bachelors degree…that adds 2 years onto the years you have to go to school…so you may be taking a shortcut from high school, but your just adding on in the long run…and it’s harder to get a job with a GED than with a HS diploma.

Stay in high school!! Dropping out will make you a quitter. Once a quitter ALWAYS a quitter. Ask yourself how far behind are you? Can you go to summer/night school to catch up. If you can… do that. A GED is a General Education Diploma. It’s not as easy to get as you think. Don’t look at it as the easy way out. You have to study to pass the test. So if you can study for a test you can study for high school. Don’t you want to remember your high school prom? What about graduation? You need to really think about it, is it the best decision for your future?

GED = General Equivilency Diploma; Although the name says it’s equivilent to a high school diploma, the impression to others is that you quit on your education to take an easier way out. It could be perceived that you had a behavioral problem or a problem with succeeding in your studies. Either way, it’s the cheap way out that scars your ability to win a good paying job placement in life. I would strongly encourage you to complete your high school education as it is an investment in your future you only have to make once. It’s really not that big of a deal to get through. Just keep life in perspective and stay focused.

GED

Eligibility: Students who take the GED exams must not be enrolled in or graduated from high school, must be over the age of sixteen, and must meet other state requirements.

Requirements: The GED is awarded when a student passes a series of tests in five academic subjects. In order to pass each test, the student must score higher than 60% of the sample set of graduating seniors.

Generally, students need to spend a considerable amount of time studying for the exams.

Length of study: Students are not required to take traditional courses in order to earn their GED. The examinations take seven hours and five minutes cumulatively. Students may need to take preparation courses in order to get ready for the exams. However, this is not mandatory.

A GED is just a diploma-alternative.

It has a stereotype of being a “cop out” for finishing highschool.

But alot of singers and actresses have resorted to earning it, because they don’t have time to go to school full time.

Anyway, it’s a series of tests based on english, math, reading, science…pretty much everything.

You will take a number of appraisal tests before the “big one” to see where your level of education is at, if you are not up to standards…they will set you up with a tutor until they feel you are able to re-take the test.

Anybody can earn their GED as long as they have a minimum of an 8th grade education. And I think you have to be atleast 16.

Your eduction is the KEY to your future. Dropping out should not even be and option. there are things that go on in our lives that sometimes seem hard but nothing is worth your future. How will you explain to your children and grand children that you dropped out of school and got a GED to support your self and your family. PLEASE think about what you are doing first. I pray that you change your mind and stay in school and go on to collage and make a better life for yourself. Good Luck

a ged is a general education diploma. it just proves you know basic things in academics. to employers, a ged means that you know how to do things. if you’re in california, and if you are pretty smart, try to go for the TOEFL… google that. its the legal equivalent to a diploma. you can get the toefl after you turn 16. you can get a ged at an adult school or try going to a community college.

You don’t want a GED, you want a diploma. If you really think you are smart enough to graduate now, most schools will allow you to take a general knowledge test, and if you pass it with a high enough score, you can graduate early.
