I need your opinion on the ACT?
Favorite Answer
As far as scores go, the national average for an ACT score is a 21. Ivy Leagues and top-ranked colleges usually expect anywhere between 29-33, but admission does not solely depend on your ACT score. A mid-tier college usually bases it’s standards around the 20-29 line. So, depending on how high you are aiming for college, your score must fall in one of those categories.
Check out www.collegeboard.com and search for your prefered colleges. The college board website has a section dedicated purely for “Admissions” and tells you virtually every college’s recommended ACT score range. If you are not sure yet which college you would like to attend, which is completely understandable, then just browse around at the colleges in your area/state and compare their ranges. Most likely, you’ll end up going to an in-state college for your undergrad.
If you do well, and I’m sure you will, then you do not have to re-take the exam unless your school requires it. The school I went to requires the ACT exam to be taken at the end of junior year in order to graduate. Check with your counselor about required standards in your school.
Good luck!
