how can one improve their GPA?
Favorite Answer
Still imagining your GPA is 2.8, if you get a B in a class, it’ll go up, but if you get a C it will drag it down. If your GPA was a 4.00, than in most cases you can’t raise it, you can only maintain it.
However, in some schools, the grading system gives 5 for an A in an AP class, or another type of advanced class, which can raise your GPA above 4.00.
Then, they divide all the numbers you get from your grades by the number of classes you have, and you get you’re GPA.
Example: Let’s pretend you have seven classes, and you have two A’s, two B’s, two C’s, and a D. You get 8 points for your 2 A’s, 6 points for your 2 B’s, 4 points for your two C’s, and 1 point for your D. If you add all the numbers together, you’ll get 19 points. Then, if you divide that by the number of classes you have, (in this scenario, 7) then your overall GPA for the semester or trimester or whatever would be 2.7 (I rounded off).
The highest GPA you can get is a 4.0. BUT if you’re in high school and you took A.P classes, then you could have a higher GPA then a 4.0 if you ace all your classes.
To improve your GPA, you could take an A.P. class (if you are good at a certain subject and their is an A.P. class offered for that subject at your school) or you can do better in your classes, or just one or two classes. Even if you have only a couple A’s, it can bump up your GPA a lot. But if you have F’s, it could bump it down a lot.
Good Luck!!! I hope you do well!!!!
