All you have to do is be a NYC resident and register for and take the Specialized HS examination. If you score at or above the cut-off score, then you’ll be accepted. Grades and attendence don’t matter. Trust me. So, just study your butt off for the exam, and you’ll be good.

I had a friend who had a 73 average in JHS, and he almost always cuts class, and he got into Stuyvesant. All the teachers thought he paid someone to take the test for him. Grades and attendence DO NOT MATTER. I am a primary source – I know this for a fact. I graduated from Bronx Science, and I have dozens of Stuyvesant friends. All you have to do is pass the Specialized HS examination. That is it!

um? you do know stuy is better than bronx science, right? and yeah, i’m sure your friends WOULD kill to be in your position. anyway, you won’t meet your real friends until high school/college. elementary school/middle school friends fade away no matter what. a high average is completely possible, i have a 94.45 uh yeah, i got lost the first 2 days, but no teacher really got pissed. you’re just learning. and everyone has free periods, so piss then with the no hw help/assistance, that is NOT true at all. about 30% of kids come to stuy not knowing anyone else, so there’s a lot of kids in that position. yeah, and teachers pretty much make you write down like 3 contacts’ phone numbers. i don’t know ONE mean person at stuy. not ONE. just chill. things will fall into place. and we don’t care if this is unorganized, it’s yahoo answers. not everyone at stuy is completely professional with grammer/spelling.

Uh grades do matter but hello?????I live in NY and you do not need ninety average that’s a lie.Get a booklet for high school test your coordinator should give you one and attend all fairs!!!!!This can sometimes raise your chances and remember when you pick high schools in 8Th grade,do not pick all 4 specialized high schools. But, before you pick any go to their open fairs and yes,you must LIVE in ny to go to that school.Unless you come to the city and move you can not go to that school how do i know well did you get a book telling you about high schools?Without that you cant come to that school.Work hard and READ!!!I also want to get in and so far i have 100% in english yes,im busting my a s s with work.I hope i see you there and remember,go to the open houses, you already missed one so get as much info as you can and best luck to you man and lucy went to that school!!!!!

Get a high SAT score. That will help you a lot to get in. The best way to prepare for the SAT is with a guide or book. From my experience, the best preparation books were princeton review guide, and the tutorfox new sat guide. Used together, I increased my SAT score by about 200 points. Good luck, and please let me know if you have any more questions.

Regards,

Pual.

What the h*ll are all these guys talking about?? I don’t think it matters what your average is in the current school, as long as you score high on the SHSAT. You could go to tutoring or buy a book to help you score high on the SHSAT.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? the ONLY way u can get into stuy is by taking the SHSAT…grades DO NOT MATTER. attendance DOES NOT MATTER. just study hard for the test. u may want to buy a kaplan book, they sell them at barnes and noble. study scrambled paragraphs, logical reasoning, reading comprhension, and math. i took this test last year. and i got into bronx science.

shsat school like stuyvesant only care about shsat score that you need to get into . normal hs do care about your grade, but stuyvesan t, bronx sci, brooklyn tech definitely don’t care about grade and attendence

uhh dudes

Your grades don’t matter AT ALL.

Thats why i love SSHAT. You just got to study a lot for it. But trust me its not that easy unless you’re a genius.

Umm..

Kaplan offers test prep books so does Barrons.

And there are tutoring classes for it.

What grade are you applying for?

Theres ninth grade and tenth grade.

The tenth grade exam is harder.

oh shooott!! its really hard to get into stuyvesant.

1-u need a 90 or above

2-i heard tht they have a lot of females, so they r taking in males

3-good attendence

also, u have to take a specialized HS test, and if u pass tht u r eligible for a chance in the skool.

they look at ur grades from 7th grade, so u might wanna do well.

edit: hey paul, shes applying for HS not college. u take SATs in HS, not JRHS.

YES GRADES AND ATTENDENCE DO MATTER. u guys r wierd, how can u get accepted w/o grades and attendence???? doesnt make sensee

2 years ago i wanted to apply for cardozo and stuyvasent but i missed the specialized test so i couldnt apply for it.

grades and attendence of 7th grade count.
