I don’t know about other “stuff”, but you can get into some colleges with a 20 on the ACT. My son got a 23 in sixth grade and that score was good enough for our local community college.
You also want to make sure that your subtest scores in reading and math are at least 17. Otherwise, you may have to do some remedial work. What counts as much as these scores are your class rank and your motivation. At our local community college, the parking lot is full at the beginning of the semester and only half full at the end. If you can stick with it, you will go much further than most.

Not really, the national average is a 21 or 22. But it’s not the deciding factor in college admission, so if your grades and extracurriculars are good, then your ACT score shouldn’t really matter.

A 20 is just about average. That score will be good enough for community colleges. If you retake it there is a good chance you will score higher, though.
