Congratulations on wanting to become a ham radio operator

I know that arrl books can be a bear.

On the book front, I rather use the Gordon West/Fred Maia series of ham radio licensing books as they have the questions and the correct answer right underneath with a small explanation in easy terms about why it’s the correct answer.

I haven’t tried it personally, but the arrl offers a online course that is supposed to be 100% guaranteed. It’s supposed to take you through the steps like they would in a ham radio class

Most I’ve met though, keep retaking the test online over and over again (these are practice quizes) and can be found for free at sites like

www.qrz.com

www.aa9pw.com

But if you still have questions, email me on here

There is the No-Code Technician Class option to getting your HAM license. Which means you don’t have to learn the CW (Morse Code). Radio Shack used to sell the book that was easy to understand for taking the NoCode Tech Class test.

There are a number of sites with help available. Kids 8 years old have obtained their extra class tickets, so it is not impossible.

You might consider doing a search of Yahoo groups to find groups that assist folks in obtaining their first amateur license or upgrading their current license. I am including a URL of one such site.

Best regards,

Jim
